We invite you to join one of our workshops

We run regular workshops led by experienced artists and crafters where you are invited to come together to design and stitch your own individual squares to be included in the quilt. In the making, we offer a safe and supportive space to meet, to talk, to mark and remember all these young lives.  Stitching the children's names is an act of bearing witness, and by coming together in solidarity as a creative community with collective purpose,  we will honour and remember every child.

All levels of experience (and none!) are welcome,  and all materials and practical guidance are provided. If you would like to join a workshop please check upcoming dates and locations below. And if you are interested in hosting a workshop please do get in touch.

St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Edinburgh

“Last Saturday a workshop was planned to take place at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh, a collaboration between Each Child a Light and A Million Kites. The aim of the workshop was to help children understand what is happening to children in Gaza, and guide them as they put down their hopes and wishes for the children on pieces of fabric that would be sewn together to make a kite.
What happened that day was completely unexpected, and blew us away. As the room began to fill we realised the only children taking part were the Palestinian children who were not long ago in Gaza. These were the children we had been advocating for, whose stories we were trying to tell and honour. And here they were, in that room with us, waiting for the workshop to begin. The plan was to make a kite for the children of Gaza, and we were never expecting to be spending the afternoon with the children of Gaza.
And just like that, the precious children of Gaza and their beautiful mothers made a kite. A kite carrying their stories – some harrowing, some heartwarming – their big hopes and their dreams of return. And their kite will fly.
The time spent with these children was a gift we will treasure forever. We must keep fighting for our children, and for a world in which they can be safe, happy and free.”
Leila Boukarim, children’s author and editor of ‘A Million Kites.testimonies and poems from the children of Gaza

Yoga Point Brixton

On Mother’s Day, Yoga Point Brixton hosted a workshop for Each Child a Light. A poignant and quiet collective action, coming together in sorrow and solidarity on this day in this beautiful space.

“It was so good to be in community, feeling the pain and sadness, directing this towards love and community. In these times it is so easy to feel powerless, hopeless and overwhelmed. And so important to find ways to resist.”    Rebecca

Old PaleSteine House, Brighton
Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th February, 2026

During our exhibition at Old PaleSteine House in Brighton we hosted two wonderful gatherings of local artists, crafters and activists who came together to  mourn, to talk and to stitch in memory of the children of Gaza. Heartfelt conversations, community solidarity and some beautiful dedication squares were created. Thank you to all who took part, and we aim to return to offer more workshops soon. Watch this space....

“Thank you for coming down to Brighton and sharing your project with our community. Every way we can bring awareness to the ongoing genocide is essential, and the Each Child a Light project captures it in such a beautiful way and allows all of us to bear witness through the eye of needle.” Naj
